ACT Reviews 2022-2023 Season

(Lion). They all brought their characters to life expertly and you certainly felt for their needs. The two Witches, Glinda the Good, and The Wicked Witch were performed with just the right amount of Good and Evil by Eve Robertshaw and Elena Greenwood respectively. The rest of the cast was Hannah Read, Harry Hayhurst, Jenna Hornby, Eva Whiteley, Matteo Mort, Iris Robertshaw, Timo Ruiz, Cara Hey, Erin Jarvis, Faith Bilo, Georgia Bancroft, Lucas Taft, Millie Jarvis, Ruby Walsh and Zoe Blackadder. They were all strong in their performances. I loved the Monkey costumes which were Red Trousers, Black top, Red/Gold cloaks, and a furry hat, making their roles very effective. The whole production was very enjoyable, ran very smoothly without any hiccups or flaws, everyone from cast on stage to backstage crew. They all worked as a team and very much brought the story to life. There were certainly many a performer to watch out for the future and hopefully they will have many more opportunities to perform in years to come. Costumes by Anne Allan were very colourful, effective, and exuberant. The makeup was expertly crafted, especially for Scarecrow, Tin Woodsman, Lion, and the Wicked Witch. Stage Manager, Clare Tetlow, and her team executed all scene changes smoothly and without any flaws. Lighting and Sound was carried out by Leroy Philbrook and Henry Gorman to equal effect. Finally, many thanks to Stage Door Youth Theatre for a very enjoyable performance and for welcoming me.
