ACT Reviews 2022-2023 Season

THE LITTLE MERMAID Director and Choreographer ~ Stacy Hancock Musical Director ~ Caitlin Sherwood Mid Cheshire Youth Theatre The theatre was an open and in the round style. The front panel to the stage and part of the steps were decorated with glow-in-the-dark items. These items turned out to be plastic waste that was polluting the oceans. During the interval, I noticed that various netting and plastic waste had adorned the outside of the auditorium as well. It integrated a very poignant and a positive reminder of the damage we can cause to all living creatures in the oceans.

The opening song and dialogue unfortunately were not heard very well due to a few sound gremlins. This was soon rectified, and the enjoyment of the production soon followed. All the cast members were professional in their performances, and the sound problem did not mar their display of talent, as they carried on regardless. Despite their young ages and stage experience, they performed like seasoned entertainers. All the solo singers displayed their talents very well as did the ensemble and groups. I did not notice stuttering, missed words or

anyone out of time; it was very enjoyable to listen to. The choreography was very good, and it was not repetitive or too complicated: the cast performed
